The Story of Scarlet Rose
Early in 2008 a young couple, Clinton and Jessica, received news that every young couple hopes for... they were going to be
parents of a wonderful baby girl. They were so excited! They did everything to prepare for their first child. Jessica filled the extra
bedroom closet with little red outfits in anticipation of the coming of little Scarlet Rose. Clinton even donated his services as an
artist to make sure Jessica would have the nurturing care of a massage doula throughout her pregnancy. They went to all the
prenatal doctor appointments together and did everything to make sure that Jessica and Baby Scarlet were healthy throughout the
pregnancy.
Finally the day came, December 11th, 2008, and after three long days of labor, Scarlet Rose came into the world. The doctors said
she was healthy and sent her and her parents home.
As the weeks passed, something seemed to be very wrong with little Scarlet. She began spitting up blood... then small incidental
contact began to cause extreme bruising. She also had bouts with breathing trouble and issues with constipation. Clinton and
Jessica were terrified! They took Scarlet to their doctor almost once a week for two months straight. No one could identify the
problem. Nothing that was tried seemed to help.
This is where this story takes a truly heart wrenching turn. After tests were run, it was discovered that Scarlet’s bones were under
mineralized and brittle. Even though this bone condition was found, when the fractures were identified, they were not attributed to
Scarlet’s bone condition. The fractures were blamed on an easy scapegoat…Child Abuse! Jessica and Clinton had brought their
Baby Scarlet to the doctors over and over again, and were told that she was fine. Now the blame for her symptoms is being placed
on Clinton and Jessica! Clinton even had to put up with the injustice of spending three nights in jail and is being threatened with
child abuse charges.
The truth is that Scarlet has several serious medical conditions - osteopenia, severe vitamin D deficiency and rickets. None of this
was originally diagnosed. After almost weekly visits to the doctor plus the post natal check up, the family had no answers.
And now, the cruelest turn of all, at the fragile age of 9 weeks old, Scarlet Rose was taken from Clinton and Jessica. Instead of
seeing the truth, the love that these two people have for their daughter, false accusations of abuse have been made against them.
And because of it a little girl is without her mother and father and two very concerned parents go to bed every night without their
daughter.
Scarlet Rose needs your help. She needs tests... tests to verify and treat her conditions. She needs to be reunited with her family.
This injustice must be set right.
